All Tees has been a fantastic project to work on. I was commissioned by a gentlemen in Austin Texas to develop a new T-shirt brand, within a specific budget, that would appeal to Millenials and GenZ. After researching affordable domains and playing with a dozen ideas, it was settled on “All Tees” (a play on the phrase “I’ll Tease" which capitalizes on the flirtatious brand logo). The banner uses an attractive stylized girl from the target demographic surrounded by a tsunami of t-shirts (client wants the site to house hundreds of eventual designs) and centered between two implied, subliminal “hearts” made from the mountain and waves of the product. I currently act as the Creative Director and Lead Graphic Designer for AllTees which will have it’s official launch November 1st, 2024.
The “All Tees Girl” was designed to reflect the stylized imagery of the brand’s core graphic design. This style of imagery was specifically developed to work with the POD (Print on Demand) DTF (Direct to fabric) printing of California based POD company, Printful, as well as with their DTFx printing.
Puns and Parodies are part and parcel to All Tees. The “Dirty Harry” design blends the iconic imagery of Clint Eastwood’s 1971 classic “Dirty Harry” with Daniel Radcliff’s character of Harry Potter.
Borrowing from James Cameron’s box office hit “Avatar” I took the alien design of the “Navi” and shoe-horned it into a pun with the famous Christmas song “Felice Navidad”.
Another ridiculous pun, the “I’ll Be Bach” design features Johann Sebastian Bach holding an oversized weapon, playing on the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger line “I’ll be back” from the near timeless action packed film, “Terminator 2.”
Specifically a “niche” design, “Chopin Onions” has layers of jokes to it, much like onions have. A masterful pianist whom some would argue is capable of bringing one to tears. Silly, fun, and perfect for the branding of the All Tees store.
Targeting niche markets with graphic design is an artform in and of it’s self. Those of us who grew up watching and memorizing Matt Groening’s “The Simpsons” will recognize this image immediately, and identify with it’s glitchy, faded facade. What was once a household quote has slowly slipped away from Simpsons fans, who still hold to true to the taglines they grew up with and loved.
“Houses and Humans” is a parody of the popular tabletop game “Dungeons and Dragons” and is currently the best selling shirt on the site, even before the store’s official launch.
Very silly design with the Lord of the Rings character “Gollum” as a hockey player.
All Tees is growing towards a brand which appeals to the broad demographic of Millennials and GenZ, and with the current popularity of Astrology and star signs I’ve been developing a Unisex line of images correlating to the 12 signs of the Zodiac. “Gemini” is a design within that line I’m most proud of, displaying the subtle balance of energies between the twins, a contrast between their similarities, and differences.
A parody of Tim Burton’s “A Nightmare Before Christmas”, the “Jacked Skellington” design is geared towards those of us who really take Halloween seriously. Very popular movie around two holidays, with a distinct and likeable protagonist, featuring “Jack Skellington” as a body builder, getting “jacked up”, as the gym goers say.
All Tees is being developed into a store for Millennials and GenZ. Millennials, the earliest of which, are now around 42 years of age. This design is a “dad shirt”, a gift for the 40 year old fisherman in your life with a corny sense of humor, but appealing to any “dad” of any age. My own father is a fisherman in his 70’s, and I designed this image with him particularly in mind.
Another niche product, “The Green Fairy” blends the style of Art Nouveau with vintage American design work, recognizable by anyone who may indulge in what has become in North America a bit of a rare or underground libation, “Absinthe”. This ties together the urban legends of the magical affects of the drink in with the old-timey medicines of yore which often featured questionable ingredients.
